I was honored to host an event honoring the opening of our new space for the nationally recognized Domestic Abuse Service Center. Thanks to the hard work of Lolita Ulloa and our team, Hennepin County's Domestic Abuse Service Center was recently designated as one of three leadership sites for combating domestic abuse in the United States. The Center brings together police, sheriff deputies, prosecutors, and shelter advocates in one place. It's hard enough for lawyers to figure out the bureaucratic maze of various protective agreements, court actions and interventions in the area of domestic abuse. That's why we have it all under one roof, with a beautiful children's play area with donated toys and books. The Center handles 4,200 protective agreements and more than 25,000 crisis calls per year.
